polliwogs.
tadpoles.
So. When I took the kids to school this morning they were whispering in the back of the van. All three of them. Aryn, Zoe, and Isaac. I dropped the two older ones off, and when they left I said, "Zoe, what were you guys whispering about?" She said, " I can't tell you. It's a secret and if I tell, Isaac won't let me play with them."
Them?Well, that sure got my curiosity a-going.
When we got home I asked her about it again. In a round-of-about way, I learned that Isaac has taken into his possession a small amount of polliwogs. POLLIWOGS. I don't even know where he could have gotten them! She said he bought them from someone. What?! That boy has definitely got some explaining to do.
I looked up some information, here, on how to take care of them. Which as soon as Isaac gets home he going to read. Let me tell you.
Actually though, now that the initial shock has worn off, I think this could be a fun learning experience for all of them. The transformation from a tadpole into a frog could be an amazing thing to watch. As long as nothing dies.

one of my favorite memories was catching tadpoles on the way home from school!
Don't let Cooper hear the secret; he'll be buying them as well. That, or he'll just be at your house every day.
LOVE POLLIWOGS!
ME AND MY KIDS USE TO GO OVER TO TOQUERVILLE WITH OUR RUBBER BOOTS ON AND CATCH THEM BY THE BUCKET FULLS.
I HAD TWO DUCKS FOR A FEW YEARS (THEIR NAMES WERE GERT & IZZY)WE WOULD DUMP THE POLLIWOGS IN A PLASTIC SWIMMING POOL THAT THE DUCKS SWAM IN AND THEY WOULD HAVE A BALL. DUCKS LOVE POLLIWOGS AND GERT AND IZZY WERE NO EXCEPTION. SUBSEQUENTLY WE NEVER GOT TO WATCH THE TRANSFORMATION HAPPEN.
SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT ADVENTURE!
How funny! I want to know who he bought them from.
We had polliwogs at our house that lasted...well it was almost four days. It's fun for the kids to enjoy and then the poor things took a ride on "the porcelain express"--isn't that what they call it on Nemo?
My dad always brought polliwogs home. And he still does. He puts them in his pond in the back yard. Well the other night we were over there a bit late and it was starting to get dark. All of a sudden you could hear this croaking back and forth. So I guess they lived and have turned into frogs. How fun it is to have mischievous boys!!
My MIL believes that one of the reasons small critters were put on the earth is for little boys and girls to learn about things in the world. She calls it "filling the measure of their creation."
Rayn=I do walk Jansen to school and then go running on good days.
He cracks me up. I wonder who he bought them from.
LOL, that's so funny! Your kids are so adventurous! It's so fun to read about your family happenings. I've been a part of the Heaton Family for almost 7 1/2 years now and I'm JUST feeling like I know you a bit...thank goodness for blogs! :o)
That totally makes me laugh! What funny kids. I am curious to know how much a polliwog goes for these days:)? How long before they turn into frogs? You will definately have to keep us posted!
That is so funny. I love when they are all on the same team, even if no one can tell Mommy!
