Market Bag GIVEAWAY

A few years ago, when we moved into this house I would watch decorating shows on HGTV. FREQUENTLY. I think it partly comes from a secret dream to be a Home Decorator. That, or boredom. Gene still gives me hard time about it because I still have some of them saved on the DVR. One of the shows was Room Service. The designer's name: Sarah Richardson. She's the one that taught me to make these cute bags. AND BOY! have I made some bags.

They're so SO handy. I've made them to carry library books, knitting/crochet supplies, laundry, ballet shoes, etc. A few years ago, I even made them into scripture bags for Aryn's friends. I'm telling you this bag is VER.SA.TILE.

Anyway, I needed a new bag and figured this would be a great GIVEAWAY. I went to the DVR and guess what? Gene had erased THE episode with the instructions! Since I've made so many bags, I can make them on my own, but I wanted to share the instructions with all of you...Would any of you be interested in a HOW TO?

So. Without further ado... I present the MARKET BAG. I wish I could say it in French. I think it would sound fancier. But alas, No, and Gene's not here to translate... Speaking of french, I did construct it using french seams. Does that count?

This is one side of the bag. The fabric is Country Life from Waverly.

And this is the other side of the bag. The fabric is Ballad Bouquet from Waverly.

I had to just sneak in a picture of one of the squashes. (Can you see it below the bags?) I came home and found a few of them, and pumpkins too. It was almost like they just appeared. Crazy, I tell you.

So, here's how it works:

  • Leave a comment on this post and you'll be entered to win.

  • Like last month, here's the twist...Since June is Father's Day month, if your last name or your maiden name matches my dad's or gene's dad's, you get an extra vote. The names are GUBLER and BLAIR.

  • The giveaway closes on Saturday @ 2:30 pm MST. Good Luck!

p.s. On Sunday while, perusing the internet, I found this blog. It's near Chateau Beynac, along the Dordogne River, a place Gene and I visited 11 years ago. It brought back some great memories. It also reminded me about another secret dream I have... I guess I'll just get to live this one vicariously.

=========================================

the giveaway is now closed. i will be posting the winner in just a second. i have to draw the name:)

and the winner is...(drum roll)... THE GUBLER FAM. Congratulations! I'll bring it over soon.

Get Ready for Summer GIVEAWAY

So, today is the last day of school. Aryn and Isaac have really liked their classes and their teachers. They've learned so much. One of the best things is that they both really love to read! I can't tell you how happy I am about that. We decided to make a little Thank You gift for their teachers. I found the instructions to make these cute bookmarks here.
Aryn and Isaac drew the pictures, and picked the colors for the fabric on the back. Pink for Isaac because he said that was his teacher's favorite. And green for Aryn because she said that was her teacher's favorite. I did the stitching for Isaac, but Aryn did hers on her own!

We thought it would be fun to get this summer started with a GIVEAWAY. So here you go... This time around, there's going to be a few twists...Just to add to the excitement!
1. I'll draw TWO winners. One for "Martian Man" and one for "Les Fleurs." (Original artwork by my children.)
2. Since it's mother's day month, if one of your names or one of your mother's names matches either of Gene or I's mother's MAIDEN name (does that make sense?), you get an extra entry. Their maiden names are: HEATON and EDWARDS.
3. We're going out of town, so the contest will close Tuesday @ 12:00 noon. Just leave a comment to enter.
4. Good Luck! And have FUN with the kiddos this summer!
I have to share one more piece of excitement. While Aryn and I were stitch, stitch, stitching away, Zoe wanted to try. I got her a little yellow hoop (her favorite color), she drew the picture on the fabric, and off she went! Now she's stitch, stitch, stitching away! She can even thread the needle! She's getting so big. She's so happy with herself too. And that makes me so happy.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The contest is now closed!!! I will draw the winners and post them soon!
The winner for "les fleurs" is... the TONIOLI'S
And the winner for "martian man" is... the MOORE FAMILY
CONGRATULATIONS! I'll get these sent off!

Better Late Than Never GIVEAWAY

So. It's the last day of the month... This month has just flown. Remember a few weeks ago when I hinted at a giveaway? Well... are you ready?

Leave a comment on this post and you'll be entered to win one of these little bonnets. (Make sure to mention which color you like!) The Giveaway will close on Saturday night at 10:00pm MST.
When I decided to make these little bonnets, I had a plan for them. I still do. It's just taking me some time getting it put into action. I chose the colors for a reason.
Red (pink) is for Courage to do what is right.
Yellow for Service from morning till night.
Blue is for Truth in our thought and our deed.
And then I added Green because it's the color of the CTR shield, Choose The Right.
Now you little luckies are going to have Our Primary Colors, (Children's Songbook, page 258), running through your head for awhile. It's okay. It'll do you good.
Good Luck, everyone!

And the winner is...
Cheryl!!! Congratulations! I'll bring it over soon!

GIVEAWAY: March

This little ball of yarn is big enough to make two baby magic slippers.

I found the pattern for them on sockpixie while looking on Ravelry. I fell in love with the baby slippers when I saw them. I wanted to try making something little and tiny and cute with those little nuggets of yarn. I used the leftover yarn from those arm warmers I made my sister.

I decided that these would be the perfect thing for my GIVEAWAY this month. I made one pair as a gift and one pair to giveaway. So... leave a comment on this post and you'll be entered. The giveaway will close on Monday at 4:00 pm MST.

I made a couple of these hats for two of my children's teachers. I figured I'd make another one and get it finished before the end of the month so here it is:

The Butterfly Hat (pattern here)

I think it turned out so cute. It's my favorite color. I used Red Heart 0373 Petal Pink.

Leave a comment on this post and you'll be entered. I like to make things and I like to share things, so this giveaway is for anyone that reads this blog and wants to win the hat! So feel free to comment.

Oh yeah! Thanks to my lovely models for showing how the hat looks on different ages.

I'll close the the giveaway on Monday at 4:00pm MST and post the winner afterward.

Birthday GIVEAWAY

GUESS WHO?
It's my lovely sister Kasey. And it's her birthday today!

I love my sister so much. She is wonderful. I can be myself around her and no matter what I say or do, she still likes me.

These are what I'm giving to her. I found the pattern for knitting them here. She calls hers TOAST and says, " Worn with a sweater with 3/4 sleeves, or poking out of a sleeve of a jacket." I altered the pattern a little bit. And so I'm naming mine CINNAMON TOAST.

Cinnamon Toast

Yarn: Paton's Kroy, Summer Moss Jaquard
75% washable wool, 25% nylon
Needles: 3

Cast on 56 stitches. Divide onto 3 needles (needle 1, 24 stitches; needle 2 ,16 stitches; needle 3, 16 stitches). Join for working in the round. Work in (Knit 4, Purl 4) ribbing for 11 inches. Bind off. Weave in both ends. And there you are!

And so in honor of my sister I'm going to give away a pair!

(The pair I'll give away is slightly different. The yarn is Fern Rose Jacquard, and I'll make them using the TOAST pattern, so they'll look like this.)

It's going to work like last time... Leave a comment on this post and you're entered.

Here's an added twist: if you e-mail a birthday message to my sister TODAY ONLY (JANUARY 16) you'll get an extra entry!

The drawing will close Sunday at 5:30pm MST

The drawing is now closed. This is how the giveaway pair turned out. They're comfy, cozy to wear. I'll announce the winner in just a minute.

Congratulations to AUTUMNTIME!

E-mail me your address, and I'll bring these babies right on over! For some added fun, you should take a picture of yourself wearing TOAST and post it on your blog for all of us to see!

Legwarmie GIVEAWAY

Remember when I knit those cyoot legwarmies? Well, I had so much fun that I have kept myself busy knitting. I figured out the pattern so now I don't have to do my adapted version.

I decided that since this was the season of giving, I'd do a LEGWARMIE GIVEAWAY! To enter all you have to do is comment on this post. I'll wait a few days and then do the drawing on Saturday or Sunday.

  • The legwarmies measure 11.5 inches long, 4 inches wide.

  • They're pink and green, 100% cotton.

  • They're sized to fit Zoe. (Circumference-wise they fit her with room to grow!)

  • Also, I've washed and dried hers a few times and they don't seem to have shrunk.

One more thing. Here's that pattern.
