My Grandpa Heaton's garden last week.
For some reason at the beginning of the season, I always seem to compare my garden to my grandpa's (particularly the onions). His vegetables always seem to be bigger, healthier, and more abundant.
In comparison, mine are smaller, more insect eaten, and the seeds don't always sprout. I begin to question myself and all the time and work I've put into this garden.

I begin to see that the plants are growing a little bit everyday. I start to notice the beneficial insects, like ladybugs, that are crawling on the plant leaves. And then Asher and Zoe notice them. So I get to watch their wonder and fascination.

I get to see little miracles happening, blossoms here and tiny new fruits there. And I begin to know that this little garden is such a blessing to our family. And for a brief moment, I realize that I no longer need to compare. And that feels good.

If it makes you feel better you can come see our garden and know you're on the right track. Your squash plants are huge!! I talk to my flowers on my tomatoes and give them a little tap of praise--I hope it's helping :)
Your garden puts mine to shame! I am on round 3 of replanting and I may give up on it. Yours really looks great.
Your garden looks absolutely wonderful! Oh man, I have to tell myself not to compare ours with yours;)! I heard from "someone" that grandpa may be a little competitive;)! I heard he planted turnips because you did and the funny thing is he doesn't even like them. hahaha!! Thanks for sharing! If you have any little secrect to get things to grow better PLEASE share!

Yeah, my onions are 1/3 the size of grandpa's. Funny that we got the starts from him! ha ha! I just think it's a MIRACLE that any of it is growing! I'm very glad Grandpa is willing to teach us what he knows and share with us the fruits of his labor.
PS Your pepper plants are twice the size of mine! I think mine want more sunshine.
